# Quick Start Audience: Readers who want a local demonstration running before exploring the product ## s00 · Prepare the host · Copy lens onto the machine Start a demonstration on Linux or macOS with Python 3.9 or newer and Docker. Copy the lens file onto the machine and make it executable. Use a new installation directory. Lens is the only file you need to copy for published images. Open a terminal in that directory. Setup checks Docker and its Compose plugin for you. ```sh # Copy the lens file into a new installation directory chmod +x lens ``` Sources: - apps/docs/content/installation/quick-start.mdx - apps/docs/content/installation/index.mdx ## s01 · Run the installer · Run ./lens setup Run lens setup. It pulls the published release that your lens file was built for. When prompted, enter your GitHub login and a personal access token with read packages permission for GHCR. After registry access, this recording shows the settings at twice their recorded speed. Choose your web port, an unused private network and your operator login. Save a passphrase of at least twelve characters in your password manager. Choose no model server and fictional Retail Lending data. Keep the saved private configuration. The recording declines deployment. Run start next and supply registry access if prompted. ```sh ./lens setup # Enter your GitHub login and PAT when prompted # PAT permission: read:packages ``` Sources: - apps/docs/content/installation/quick-start.mdx - apps/docs/content/installation/index.mdx - apps/docs/content/installation/settings.mdx ## s02 · Sign in · Start and open Retail Lending Run start and wait for the printed sign-in address. Open it in a browser on this Docker host. Sign in with your saved operator account and open Retail Lending. You can browse the map and import a chart without models. Interviews and model-backed questions need a model server. Open the User Tutorial next. Keep the installation directory, private configuration and Docker volumes for later runs. ```sh ./lens start # Open the printed sign-in address on this host # Sign in with your saved operator account # Open Retail Lending, then the User Tutorial ``` Sources: - apps/docs/content/installation/quick-start.mdx
