The core ideas, each explained once.
NovusLens rests on a small set of ideas. They are the same whatever screen you are looking at, so this section explains each one in one place. Other pages link here instead of repeating them.

Key terms have glossary tooltips: C/A/RC/A/RThree separate scores for a team or service: Complexity, Agility and Recoverability. Each uses current evidence and the customer’s stated scoring rules. means Complexity, Agility and RecoverabilityRecoverabilityThe R in C/A/R: how well a team or service restores acceptable service after a failure. Recovery times and tested alternatives can supply evidence.; CPLCPLCritical path length. The total coordination weight of the longest chain of dependencies in the model. NovusLens reports it as index points, not elapsed time. means critical path length. The evidence ladderEvidence ladderThe three levels of support a record can have, in order: told, shown and measured. labels the support behind a claim. Agentic accountabilityAgentic accountabilityKeeping separate records of what an AI agent can do, what it is allowed to do and who answers for its actions. keeps CapabilityCapabilityWhat a team can provide or an agent can do. NovusLens records the claim and the evidence that supports it., AuthorityAuthorityWhat a team or agent is allowed to decide or do. For an agent, this comes from a named person or system that grants permission. and ResponsibilityResponsibilityThe work or result that a team or agent answers for. NovusLens records the person answerable for it. apart for each AI agent. FederationFederationSharing selected signed facts and summaries between separate regional twins, while their detailed records stay in their own regions. means viewing regional twins together. Layer A/BLayer A and Layer B boundaryThe division between advice and action. NovusLens records and explains evidence in Layer A. The customer’s systems run and control agents in Layer B. names the line between NovusLens and the customer’s agent controls.
Start with two ideas: measure, not forecast, which says what the numbers mean, and the evidence ladder, which says what supports each claim. Three groups then help to read the list.
What is measured. Complexity, Agility and Recoverability (C/A/R) score the current structure of a team or service. Critical path length (CPL) locates the longest chain of dependenciesDependencyA link where one unit needs something from another. A dependency is not a reporting line: it shows where work relies on something else.. Neither is a forecast; measure, not forecast says why.
What it rests on. The evidence ladder labels every claim as told, shown or measured. The organisation model is the structure those claims describe, and it defines what a twinTwinNovusLens’s model of one organisation, built from records about its teams, services and how they rely on one another. It is only as current as those records. is: NovusLens’s own up-to-date model of how your organisation is wired. Findings are what the product raises when records disagree or are missing. The meaning layer holds what the organisation has written about itself.
Who answers, and where the product stops. Accountability for AI agents keeps three questions apart for each AI agent. The Layer-A/B boundary (the line between mapping and controlling) fixes what NovusLens does and does not do. Federation and groups covers several regional twins viewed together. The activity log records who read and recorded what. The privacy floor explains why counts below five people are withheld.
