Keep the business-activity catalogue
A remitRemitA written list of an agent’s allowed actions, resources and destinations for information. The list states whether it is complete. says “may draft declarations”. A tool call says POST /declarations. The catalogue is the reviewed statement that the second counts as the first. Without it, “outside the remit” cannot be said honestly about a generic tool call.
What counts as meaning. An activity’s operations, resources, destinations and its context are its meaning; changing any of them is a correction. Explanation and gaps are prose. An observation mapped to an activity the referenced revision does not define is an unverified name, and is read like an unmapped call.
What a revision holds. An id and label, an owner who answers for the mapping, one entry per business activity naming the concrete operations and, where it matters, the resources, destinations and context that count, an explanation, and the known coverage gaps. Every revision keeps its author and approver.
Who does what
- Any writer drafts a revision, on the remit panel under The business-activity catalogue.
- The accountable executive or the operator approves it. The catalogue spans the organisation, so the owner of one cellCellA box on the map that stands for a team, service, supplier or AI agent. It is a unit you can inspect, not necessarily a department or a person. does not approve it alone. A refusal says so in words.
- ConnectorsConnectorSoftware that reads records from a source system, such as an incident tool. A customer-written file connects those records to teams or services in NovusLens. state on each activity observation which catalogue revision they mapped it under. A native call they could not place is marked unmapped and is never read as a business operation.
- When a draft remit names an operation no approved catalogue knows, the draft carries a warning. It is advice, never a refusal: the catalogue is yours.
When the catalogue changes. Observations keep the revision they were mapped under. A newer revision that leaves an activity’s meaning intact changes nothing: the panel says mapped under an earlier revision; means the same now. A revision that removes or redefines the activity is a correction of meaning: the operation is no longer read as that activity, an all-clear that rested on it becomes cannot be stated, a findingFindingA difference in the records that needs a decision. It includes its sources and can describe a slow handoff, disputed fact or missing owner.’s member that rested on it lapses with the reason mapping superseded, and a conclusion that rests on another axis stands and says the mapping is under review. Nothing is re-mapped by NovusLens. The connector re-maps and sends corrections, and the finding’s support follows the evidence.
What NovusLens never does here. It never infers a mapping from a tool name, an agent’s explanation, or intensity. A reviewed mapping is the customer’s decision, and a reviewed mapping is still not infallible.
