Told, shown, measured

These labels tell you what kind of support a record has. They do not tell you that it must be correct.

  • Told: someone stated it. “Our recovery takes an hour” is a statement attributed to its speaker.
  • Shown: a document supports it. A recovery plan may say the target is one hour; that does not show the target was achieved.
  • Measured: a connected source recorded an observation within a stated period. An incident record may show that recovery took two hours on that occasion.

What to do. Open the source and check its date, what it covers and any disagreement. A simulated observation demonstrates the product; it does not measure your business.

A newer statement does not silently replace a documented or measured value. NovusLens preserves the conflicting accounts for review. Retaining an earlier record is not a decision that it remains correct: corrections, withdrawals and changes to current support can affect the conclusions that rely on it. Historical records remain available.

If you believe a value is wrong, ask the source owner to review it and publish the appropriate correction or withdrawal. Then check the affected result and its supporting records again.
